Introducing BioBoost - Bacteria for Bioremediation
Product Development
Despite the great success of Sea Power 101, the ongoing desire of our clients to complete their bioremediation jobs more quickly, cheaply and comprehensively leads us to continually evaluate our product and consider ways in which its performance might further be improved.
In 2009, we came up with the idea of reinforcing Sea Power 101 with a bacterial augment, "BioBoost." We now call this our "Synergistic System" - and since being launched in 2009, this new approach has allowed us to continue to push established industry boundaries, both in terms of what soil pollutants can be treated biologically, and how quickly this might happen.
Product Profile
BioBoost (SC4102) is a dried, concentrated blend of bacterial spores designed for application in the bioremediation industry. Each of the eleven different microbe species within the product specifically targets and digests hydrocarbon pollutants, allowing for a quicker and more comprehensive remediation process. BioBoost also contains additional strains of bacteria that are effective against the most stubborn chains on the hydrocarbon spectrum.

- Increases Microbial Population: Naturally, the rate at which those hydrocarbons present within contaminated soil can be broken down is dependent upon the size of the native microbial population. Left alone then, each site has an optimum working capacity, limiting the speed at which bioremediation can be carried out. However, BioBoost introduces billions of new microbes into the soil, the natural effect of which is to increase the number of micro-organisms actively digesting pollutants, and thereby help reduce the time needed to complete the process.
- Tackles Particularly Stubborn Hydrocarbons: BioBoost contains certain strains of pseudomonas bacteria, which are proven to be highly effective in breaking down particularly stubborn hydrocarbons, such benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene. ‘BTEX’ are some of the most volatile compounds found in petroleum and its derivatives, and cannot easily be treated by the bacteria strains normally found in soil.
- Hardier Strains: BioBoost contains microbe strains that are effective in pH environments between 5.0 and 10.0, and in temperatures between 5 and 55°C, making it a huge improvement on existing products.
BioBoost is available in various strengths: 500 million, 1 billion and 5 billion colony-forming units per gramme.
